Job description
The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead provides a unique setting and context to make your mark.

We are home to approximately 148,000 residents, including the Queen and the Royal Family, as well as many significant attractions which attract visitors from across the world.

We are committed to promoting and preserving the borough's historic assets, whilst also investing in the future with a £3bn regeneration programme, which will support an enhanced quality of life, economic growth, and opportunities for all.

Having made significant improvements during a journey of positive change, starting with the appointments of experienced senior finance leaders, we have now delivered substantial improvements to both our governance arrangements and our financial resilience.

Following a recent restructure of the Finance Team, which was the latest stage in their development plan, RBWM want to build capacity and add further resilience into the team.

As part of this we are recruiting for a Finance Business Partner (Adults).

Reporting into the Senior Finance Business Partner, the Finance Business Partner will need to embed themselves in the service department to better understand the challenges and opportunities, creating initiatives to financially benefit the Council and becoming a proactive and trusted financial adviser.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert financial insight and analysis to support work on strategic service and financial plans
  • Understanding the Council services, and their key drivers
  • Preparing budget monitoring reports in partnership with Directorate Management, for Members, Directors, and Management Teams
  • Identifying future budget risks and opportunities and ensuring these are adequately planned for
  • Playing an active role in development of the budget and the mediumterm financial strategy, particularly regarding growth, savings, fees & charges and inflation
  • Managing and developing a small finance team, providing support and mentorship and instilling high quality customer service, financial and management practices

To be suitable for this role you need to be a fully qualified customer-focused finance professional with the ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders.

You will have proven experience of developing a business partnering approach, ideally within a local authority environment.

This position is able to work flexibly between the office and homeworking, with a minimum of one day a week in the office.

Any journeys to the office would be at the employee's own expense.
