    Job summary

    We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across large multi-disciplinary teams. The post holder is expected to take a proactive approach to addressing targets and deadlines, have a track record of managing and leading teams in a complex and changing environment, a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will support in the achievement of operational and strategic objectives for the Directorate, contributing where appropriate to the production of business cases and operational plans. The role includes the day to day line management of the clerical and administration teams within Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Cardio-Respiratory, Respiratory and Sleep.

    The post holder, as part of the Directorate Management Team, will also provide support to achieving standards laid out by the Welsh Government and has a key role in ensuring waiting time targets are met. This will involve monitoring waiting times, capacity and demand, identifying problem areas and working with the Operational Management Team to resolve issues and ensure a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of services. The post holder will ensure that routine and ad-hoc information is provided to support the monitoring and achievement of all performance related targets.

    The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience with demonstrable skills directly relevant and transferrable to this role.
  • Management qualification or career demonstrable experience of working in a managerial role
  • RSA Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Desirable

  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Project Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Training in service improvement tools and statistical analysis
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams across directorates in a high volume transactional environment
  • Experience of budget management (staff)
  • Significant administrational experience within a large complex health organisation
  • Ability to manage projects at local level
  • Experience of developing services and implementing change to meet performance targets
  • Experience of managing teams, undertaking recruitment, managing performance and sickness and disciplinary issues
  • Experience in dealing with patients and the public
  • Experience of using and managing information to determine priorities and demonstrate service levels
  • Experience of preparing and presenting information to clinical staff to influence, change and inform decisions
  • Experience of using and managing information to determine priorities

  • Knowledge of health service management
  • Specialist knowledge of Medical Directorate service administration

  • Knowledge of Referral to Treat ( RTT) and targets as set by Welsh Government
