Our client is a busy, established and progressive firm of solicitors who are looking for an IT and Communications Director to join their business.


The successful applicant will have the following skills:

  • At least 15 years of legal or professional services experience in IT support.
  • Proven IT system support experience covering MS servers including MS Exchange, MS operating systems and MS Office.
  • Networking Experience (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, Switches, Hubs and Routers).
  • Data security, firewall and multifactor authentication.
  • Watchguard knowledge is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL.
  • Basic knowledge of Macro/VBA.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with legal technologies including BigHand, Liberate, Oyez etc.
  • Desktop and laptop rollout experience.
  • Data backup/recovery and patch management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills & interpersonal skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
  • Keen to learn new technologies.
  • Confident, positive attitude and selfmotivated.

Job Outline:


  • Provide technical support professionally and efficiently.
  • Manage, maintain and upgrade the firm's IT hardware, MS Server and client operating systems, desktop/laptop software and networks.
  • Train staff members as needed to enable them to use the IT systems efficiently.
  • Configuration and installations of hardware/software.
  • Perform technical diagnosis and fix IT hardware/software issues effectively with minimum down time.
  • Deal with IT virus problems.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Update the legal software precedents, screens (etc.) when required.
  • Ensure that all systems are up to date including software licenses, security certificates and domain name ownership.
  • Update the firm's online manual and website.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity to ensure availability of key systems.
  • Keep up to date with the current IT developments.
