This is a 6 month post in Renal Medicine to start April 2024. The job may be extended to 1 year.


As part of the Registrar team, the successful applicant would work alongside the NTN renal trainees and rotate through blocks of work for inpatient and outpatient work.

They would lead the ward team and do in-reach AKI support to the other wards in the hospital. In the outpatient setting they will do clinics alongside the Renal Consultants in Transplant, Vasculitis, General Nephrology and Dialysis.

They will also troubleshoot in the outpatient haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis departments. They will gain competence with renal procedures.

There will be opportunities to learn Vascath placement and native and transplant renal biopsy as well as tunnelled line insertion techniques.


The successful applicant will form part of the renal registrar on call rota, where they do 1 in 7-10 weekends in the daytime 9am to 9pm, and 1 in 7-10 evening shifts from 17.30 to Otherwise there is no overnight on call commitment.

The standard working day would be 08.30 to 18.00.
