Overview:

As the Welfare Officer you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and supportive environment for students on our elite summer programme.

Reporting to the Programme Director, the role involves providing surgery hours, general welfare and medical advice, and information to the leadership team for the safe management of our student body of international teenage students.


This role would suit a current school or college nurse who is looking for an exciting role over the summer holidays.


Key Responsibilities:


Student Safety:


  • Provide the leadership team with daily medical and welfare support in their stewardship of the programme.
  • Run daily surgery hours for teenage students to attend for medical or welfare concerns.
  • Follow the Oxford Royale Safeguarding policy and process consistently.
  • Report any concerns to the leadership team promptly.

Representing Oxford Royale:


  • Serve as a positive role model to students, staff, and stakeholders, both on and off campus.

Student experience:


  • Visit students in their rooms when needed, accompanied by other staff members.
  • Maintain an environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, knowing their concerns will be heard and supported.
  • Create a supportive atmosphere that allows students to thrive in all aspects of the program.

Collaboration and Leadership:


  • Collaborate daily with the Programme Coordinator and Programme Director to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Provide advice and support to the Programme Director where needed.

Administration, Systems and Compliance:


  • Work closely with the site office to maintain accurate and uptodate student medical records.
  • Work closely with the site office to keep student medical records up to date.

Position Details

  • You will usually be required to work 40 hours per week across 5 days, but flexibility is essential.
  • Our courses run in sessions of 2 weeks, with the majority of the courses running from June to midAugust.
  • Mandatory training will take place during the week before student arrivals.

Essential Qualifications / Experience

  • Completed at least A-Levels or equivalent examinations.
  • At least one year of higher education.
  • High level of IT proficiency.

Desirable Experience

  • Strong proficiency with Google Apps.
  • Experience of academic or office administration.
  • Experience of working in a summer school environment.
