About Our Client


Our client is a leader in their manufacturing space based in the Midlands, they are seeking an Export Sales Administrator to join their team and contribute to their on-going success.


Main duties and responsibilities:


The Export Sales Administrator plays a vital role in managing the export processes, alongside assisting with import procedures when necessary.

Their responsibilities encompass ensuring compliance with customs regulations, tracking shipments, handling documentation, and coordinating with internal departments to facilitate smooth import and export operations.

This role necessitates strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with international trade regulations.


Specific responsibilities include:

Coordination of shipments: Working closely with freight forwarders and logistics providers to arrange transportation, track shipments, and manage customs clearance processes.

Compliance assurance: Monitoring and ensuring adherence to import and export regulations, including customs laws, trade agreements, and licensing requirements, with a focus on maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Export sales administration: Handling the processing and management of export quotations and orders, including key accounts, with precision. Assisting customers with queries and providing support to the external sales team when necessary.

Customs clearance: Liaising with customs authorities to ensure smooth clearance of imported and exported goods, addressing any arising issues, and managing customs audits effectively.

Internal department coordination: Collaborating with sales, purchasing, finance, and warehouse teams to align import and export activities with business objectives and ensure operational efficiency.

Documentation management:Preparing and reviewing export documentation, such as invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations, to ensure accuracy and compliance. Providing support to the purchasing team in verifying import documentation as needed.

Tariff classification: Accurately classifying imported and exported goods according to customs tariff codes, thereby determining duty rates and ensuring compliance with trade regulations and licensing requirements.

Cost optimisation: Identifying opportunities to minimise import and export costs through the implementation of efficient shipping methods and consolidation of shipments.

Record maintenance: Maintaining comprehensive records of all import and export transactions, including shipping documents, licenses, end-user statements, and compliance documentation, for audit purposes.

Staying up-to-date: Keeping abreast of changes in international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements, and adapting import/export processes accordingly


Essential Experience & Skills:


  • Proven experience in import and export operations, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of import and export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade practices.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, tariff classification, customs valuation methodologies, origin rules, and preference statements.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in document preparation and compliance with regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problemsolving abilities to address issues related to customs clearances, shipping delays, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Experience in collaborating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other thirdparty logistics providers.
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR regulations is advantageous.

What's on offer:


  • Working hours: 09:0017:00 Monday to Thursday, 09:0014:30 on Fridays
- £30,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience.
