About the Programme:


The Positive Choices Programme is a 1-day event that offers interactive, discussion-based workshops, that sees up to six Guest Speakers deliver 50-minute sessions across the school day to Key Stage 3 and 4 Pupils.

The purpose is to enable young people to make better choices about their lives and futures.


Purpose:

Leeds United Foundation are seeking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated enthusiastic guest speaker with lived experience of:

.

knife crime*:

this could be first or second-hand experience.

We are also interested in experience of one or more of the following areas:

. gang culture

- joint enterprise

- weapons awareness

- grooming (CCE and/or CSE)

. domestic violence


Out Positive Choices - 1 Day events typically comprise of up-to 5 or 6 inputs to groups of 30-40 Key Stage 3 and 4 students over the course of a school day.


Person Specification

Knowledge / Skills

  • Ability to multitask and work flexibly.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of issues faced by young people.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate in line with programme specifications.
  • Ability to be creative and innovative.
  • Able to build relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an education setting and to act as an ambassador for Leeds United Foundation and Positive Choices.

Essential

  • Lived Experience (knife crime, gang culture, county lines, joint enterprise, weapons awareness, grooming (CCE and/or CSE) or domestic abuse).
  • Ability to speak without judgement around lived experience and be prepared to field questions around past offences.
  • Willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to our Positive Choices programme needs
  • Ability to accept and maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to undergo safeguarding training.
  • Ability to travel across West Yorkshire.

Desirable

  • Experience working with young people.
  • Proven record of developing and maintaining own performance and accountability.
  • DBS already on the Government Update Service.
  • Experience of engaging service users in a range of ways

Qualifications

  • Suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults, and willing to obtain a DBS Enhanced Disclosure.
