The Loyne Specialist School is an incredibly successful special school rated by Ofsted as Outstanding for five consecutive inspections.

We are a highly specialist school with a passion for providing the very best education to children and young people from the ages of 4 to 19.

We are now seeking to recruit a Swimming Instructor to join our welcoming and supportive staff team.

We are searching for people with a positive work ethos and a passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This role will involve the delivery of swimming and water confidence lessons to our learners, as well as movement in water sessions to our young people who have limited mobility or a therapy programme in place.

You will also be responsible for all pool related administration duties, which includes, timetabling, recording of progress and producing certificates of achievement.

Our Swimming Instructor role will also involve the overseeing of external sessions, ensuring health and safety at all times, and sourcing pool access offsite for our older students.

You must be energetic, enthusiastic and committed, with the ability to motivate and inspire learners to reach their full potential.

You must be able to lead and engage others, this includes our learners, staff, and our external pool users. You will also be expected to undertake duties within the classroom environment as part of your weekly timetable.

The hours of our Swimming instructor are negotiable to meet the needs of the school but must be a minimum of 20 hours / 3 days, up to 37 hours per week which will be agreed contractually with the successful post holder.

Up to one day per week hybrid working will be considered. Hours are worked on a term-time only basis. No weekend work is required.

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade C or above GCSE (or equivalent) English/Literacy
Level 2 Award in Teaching SwimmingDesirable Qualifications

  • Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching
  • People with disabilities
Recognised relevant Level NVQ level 4 or similar qualificationEssential Experience

Experience of delivering swimming lessons to children and / or young adultsDesirable Experience
