Job summary:


This post is within the Health Equity and Clinical Governance Directorate and will support the four divisions - Health Equity & Inclusion Health, Clinical Governance & Medical Revalidation, Nursing & Allied Health Professionals and Public Health Clinical Response - to deliver their programmatic work.

The post requires significant organisational skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Although work will be guided, the postholder will be expected to plan and prioritise their own work to ensure smooth running of multiple projects whilst also being comfortable to operate within an evolving portfolio.

The role will include ensuring projects are planned, managed and delivered effectively, supporting the delivery of milestones. The postholder will develop and manage systems and processes to guarantee oversight, monitoring and delivery of programme targets.

Location


The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in Nobel House, London, SW1P, and there will be opportunities for an element of working from home.


The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

Job description:


As the Programme Support Officer, your main responsibilities will include:


  • Business Administration Support -Provide appropriate support to senior colleagues to assist in the articulation and delivery of agreed objectives and targets via an efficient, high quality, confidential and timely service

Project Management and Support
  • Assist and work closely with other staff members working on the relevant programmes, providing information to support planning and managing elements of projects as directed by the relevant lead or Programme Manager.
Maintain project plans, supporting the provision of management information and participating in working groups.

Stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Work collaboratively across the directorate and wider UKHSA functions and external partners.
Duties may include the scheduling, organisation, execution and recording of key stakeholder forums and meetings, either face-to-face or remotely.

Quality improvement
  • Suggest changes to and implement policies and procedures in own work area.
Work within the scope of the programme budget and the financial administrative systems and protocols within the Directorate and organisation.

Governance
  • Provide key project reports and support effective governance and decision making, reporting to the Directorate Governance Lead when needed.

Assurance

  • Support or set appropriate project assurance and engage with project reviews.

Guidance & Support
  • Seek appropriate support, guidance and coaching from the project community.
Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance. Share and promote best practice and lessons learned to create a culture of learning and good practice which supports continuous improvement to optimise project delivery.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level/NVQ6 or equivalent experience
  • Experience of maintaining good stakeholder relations and of working with others to achieve common goals
  • Working knowledge of basic project management tools and techniques

  • Experience of work or study in the health and social care sector
  • You influence others, you articulate the rationale to gain their agreement.
  • You have inner composure, recover quickly from setbacks, and learn from them
