Senior Product Specialist - Glamorgan, United Kingdom - Digital Health and Care Wales
Description
Poised between Primary and Secondary Care, the 3rdParty Applications team in Digital Health & Care Wales (DHCW) play a vital role in ensuring reliable, safe communications between the two domains:Referrals for treatment or investigation are taken from the GP systems in their Practices, and transmitted to local hospitals for prioritisation and scheduling of appointments.
Updates are fed back to the Practice, allowing the patient's electronic record to be kept up-to-date. Details on medications can also be shared between GP Practice and hospital as required, to ensure consistent, safe care.
Similarly, diagnostic tests (such as blood tests) can be requested by the GP Practice electronically, and transmitted to the hospital laboratories, allowing linking to the specimens via barcodes, saving time and reducing potential errors.
We are looking for a Senior Product Specialist to manage delivery of these services as well as overseeing a significant expansion of scope to include dental and optometry practices, as well as playing a key role in the shaping of the future service.
As Senior Product Specialist you will lead the team as they significantly expand the range of services offered, moving beyond GP delivered care into Dental Care and Optometry.
You'll work closely with colleagues within the service, including DHCW as well as private contractors and commercial system suppliers to meet these objectives.
You'll be responsible for the continued provision of existing services, including:- Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway (WCCG)
- GP Test Requesting (GPTR)
- GP Links
- Welsh GP Record (WGPR)
Continued delivery of these services will require effective communication with colleagues in the DHCW Primary Care team, NHS Scotland and NHS Northern Ireland.
You will manage the existing team of ten staff who deliver the current services, and oversee a significant expansion of the team to allow us to meet the new objectives.
As part of the wider Integration & Reference Team, you'll coordinate with colleagues to ensure effective overall delivery of services.
Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is part of the NHS Wales family and has an important role in changing the way health and care services are delivered through technology and data.
The organisation supports frontline staff with modern systems and access to important information about their patients, while empowering the people of Wales to manage their own health through digital NHS Wales services.

Join our game changing, life-saving team and start making a real difference to health and care services in Wales.
