About us:


The Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit is a specialist unit set up within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology with a specific remit to design, conduct, analyse and publish clinical trials and other well-designed studies.


The CCTU provides clinical, statistical and trial operations leadership and facilitate the delivery of high quality, regulatory compliant clinical trials of both investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and other non-IMP trials and studies.

The CCTU is a registered CTU with the capability to centrally coordinate multi-centre clinical trials (i.e. having overall responsibility for the design, development, recruitment, data management and analysis of trials) with robust systems to ensure conduct and delivery of clinical trials to the highest quality standards.


About the role:

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic statistical programmer to join our collaborative teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a world-class environment with a track record of delivering highly impactful research results which change guidelines, with >40 statisticians working on randomised trials/observational studies and associated trials methodology within the ICTM.


Roles will involve managing statistical as well as data management aspects of trials on a day-to-day basis, as well as opportunities to lead on secondary analyses and co-author publications.


All post-holders will need to work well in diverse multi-disciplinary teams and will be expected to contribute to teaching, examining and tutoring students, particularly within the MScs in Clinical Trials and Statistics for Clinical Trials.


This advert is for 1 x part time position at 80% FTE, equivalent to 29.2 hours a week and salary will be pro rata to hours worked.

This position is available until 31st May 2025


About you:


Applicants must have the ability to write programs independently using statistical packages (preferably Stata or R) and a keen interest in clinical trials.

They should be able to work independently, take initiative, prioritise and organise their own workload.
