HCA at University College Hospital London


Contract:
Permanent & full time - varied shifts between a mix of early shifts (08:00-16:00) or late shifts (10:00-18:00)


Salary:
Up to £26,600 per annum dependent on skills & experience

Working in partnership with University College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, HCA UK at University College Hospital is a dedicated private facility offering expert care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.

Our team of experienced doctors and nurses provide the highest quality of personalised care, at all stages of treatment for our patients.


We are continually investing in our facilities to make sure our patients have access to the latest treatments and technology, including our advanced radiotherapy and JACIE-accredited bone marrow transplant service.


The Patient Access Officer will provide an administrative service to patients, consultants and third parties to facilitate the overall care and financial aspects of service within the hospital.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Meet and greet patients, visitors, consultants and staff and deal with their enquiries while also answering telephone calls promptly and professionally
  • To register patients in accordance to the HCA registration policy, verify all patient demographics and insurance details, whilst ensuring both computer systems are mirrored [HCA & NHS]
  • To liaise with patients, consultants, insurance companies and third parties relating to authorisation of treatment, care and financial aspects of all patients
  • To provide an accurate written quotation for selfpay patients and ensure that we receive payment in full prior to treatment
  • Ensure that all charges have been entered onto the patient account prior to month end and billing targets are met
  • Responsible for ensuring that the patient account has sufficient detailed notes for each episode of care, while also accurately record all payments onto the patient account, reconcile and bank all cash/payments on a daily basis. In line with HCA banking directive
  • Compilation of all the necessary documentation to support refunds and consultant payments
  • Ability to resolve all outstanding queries on processed admissions relating to insurance cover, letters of guarantee, charges, selfpay deposits and billing queries

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role within healthcare is essential
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
