campaigner who is passionate about making big changes with major ad tech companies - Facebook (Meta), Twitter and Google/YouTube - compelling them to be more accountable to establish effective and equitable safeguardsagainst the risks their products and policies pose in the context of elections across the world and improving and strengthening protections from online harms?

If so, a fantastic organisation 'Digital Action' is seeking a
Campaigns Officer to join their small, dynamic campaigns team.

You will play a key part in ensuring they deliver campaigns that are as strategic, and impact focused as possible.

Main responsibilities will include:


  • As
    Campaigns Officer, you will support campaign delivery, so
    campaigns are focused on achieving maximum impact.
  • Analyse and synthesise the latest research and industry, policy, and campaigning developments to ensure the team is up to date on the latest changes in the field of platform accountability, digital threats to democracy and online harms.
  • Support the coordination and strengthening of Digital Action's network in the tech sector, civil society and stakeholders, with a view to delivering high impact campaigns.
  • Coordinate and manage the organisation's campaign network including organising meetings, producing updates and blogs
  • Undertake research as required to inform campaign activities, legal and policy work.
  • As
    Campaigns Officer, you will create easily digestible briefing notes for campaigners and partners.
  • Develop a range of highquality communications outputs, including drafting advocacy materials and campaigns communications for our partners and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that insights from campaign activities are monitored, captured, and turned into useful outputs for the team and our collaborators, including maintenance of our contacts database.
  • Ensure that the website and social media platforms are regularly updated with campaign news and events
  • Assist with project management and events organisation such as virtual convenings.

Person specification:


  • Experience of civil society campaigning, or working in voluntary sector organisations, social enterprises, or the media.
  • Experience of writing campaigning or publicity materials (reports, briefings, web pages etc) You are a succinct and clear communicator, able to understand what an audience needs, and deliver information in as efficient a way as possible.
  • Experience of organising and facilitating inperson and virtual convenings with partners and stakeholders (workshops, conferences, speaker events etc).
  • Networking and experience of building relationships with varied stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and skills to monitor and evaluate campaigns.
  • You are a team player and committed to growth and learning.
  • You are well organised and able to prioritise your work in a busy team setting when you may be faced with multiple demands and competing priorities. You can work efficiently and productively in a remote work setting.
  • High standard of computer competency and literacy and experience of using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, databases, CMS Software, websites.

Knowledge

  • You understand the challenges posed by digital threats to democracy and online harms.
  • You have a strong interest in how change happens in holding governments and companies to account including formal and informal levers of influence. And you are keen to learn how to build strategies to pull these levers and learn from the process and results.
