Prehabilitation is being established in North Wales We are looking for a hardworking, dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join a new service at band 6 level, getting patients fitter and stronger prior to their major surgery.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new state of the art specialist prehabilitation unit.

You will be an integral member of a core team of seven therapy staff creating bespoke exercise, diet and psychology programs for each patient helping them prepare for surgery.

Harnessing the unique opportunity to improve unhealthy lifestyles, you will support patients through intensive multidisciplinary face to face sessions in a new purpose built prehab unit.

This has a fully equipped gym, patient classrooms and remote video links for virtual programs for those unable to travel.

Your interventions will not only dramatically reduce complications from surgery but you will also be improving patients' long term health as they adopt new healthier lifestyles.

In addition, you will have professional support and liaise as needed with the dietetic department based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, which consists over around 50 dietitians and dietetic assistants and will have the opportunity to join in CPD activities with the rest of the team, both in Wrexham and across North Wales.

In conjunction with the physio and occupational therapist, you will assess patients referred for prehabilitation.

You will ensure they meet their nutritional requirements, using a first food approach, but recommending prescribed nutritional supplements as required.

You will also carry out group education sessions.

You will need to liaise with your colleagues in the team, and also any dietitians who are involved in the patient's care, either prior to the prehab referral, or following surgery/ treatment, in order to ensure seamless patient care.

You will need to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
