Lead Packaging Technologist / Packaging Specialist

This is an exciting chance to join a globally renowned and leading food 2 go packaging manufacturer as their packaging and materials expert.

The UK operation of this packaging powerhouse are based in South Wales where the business manufacture sustainable packagingfor some of the worlds biggest blue-chip businesses.

As packaging specialist you will be the go to contact for all new product development, existing product development, cost saving trials and sustainability.

The experience we need.

  • Degree in Packaging strongly preferred. Alternatively, a degree in Materials Science / Chemistry
  • Ideally you will have four years' experience gained in a similar Technological role
  • Experience of working in an integrated manufacturing environment
  • Some experience of the paper manufacturing industry strongly preferred
  • Experience of dealing face to face with customers, most of whom are significant, highprofile accounts of strategic importance
  • Strong project management skills, preferably with formal project management training
  • IT Literate cross the range of Microsoft products
The role.

  • Working closely with customers on proposed material and specification changes
  • Planning, executing and evaluating on site product trials
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement or innovation based on customer needs
  • Providing insight for a range of customers from technological perspective
  • Keeping up to date on emerging materials and technological trends, informing key internal stakeholders and making recommendations for internal change where required
  • Monitoring changes in legislation / political landscape for implications on materials usage, recyclability, waste, consumer buying habits and develop appropriate solutions for the business
  • Monitoring advances in manufacturing / materials technology which could facilitate the company's growth
  • Working in partnership with the Sales team to develop commercial proposals
  • Establishing fit for purpose packaging standards through factory trials
  • Escalating technological issues to either Head of Quality or Sales Director
  • Working in collaboration with the broader Group, attending meetings on central discussions regarding key topics such as innovation, material changes and sustainability
