Job summary
King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized Medical Secretary / Pathway Coordinator to join the Haematology Department based at the Princess Royal University Hospital site. He/she will liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to be a part of a busy team. The work mainly involves overseeing clinic letters but mainly includes booking of appointments, liaising with internal as well as external providers. You will be dealing with incoming queries, checking of letters and day-to-day administrative duties. The post requires an understanding of the 18 week RTT , Cancer Waiting Times targets and knowledge of the Trust Access Policy.

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
The successful candidate must have experience of performing administrative duties in an NHS or private hospital setting, be able to work well in a team, take instructions from several sources, as well as having excellent communication and organizational skills. We are looking for someone who can multitask, has strong admin abilities and can prioritize their own workload. The successful candidate will have intermediate to advanced skills using packages, have an excellent telephone manner with strong problem solving skills and the ability to take clear messages and perform general office duties. The successful candidate will have a good general education with the equivalent of GCSE in English at Grade A-C (or equivalent work based experience) and have a keen eye for detail. They will become part of a small team playing an instrumental part in the smooth running of the department; therefore a positive attitude and flexibility is essential. A willingness to learn and develop skills will be positively encouraged.
