Newly re-opened following a substantial investment, The Park Head Hotel & Restaurant offers 38 en suite rooms, private dining or conference area, al fresco terrace and courtyard and a newly designed bar and restaurant perfect for visitors to Bishop Auckland and the wider County Durham area, as well as local residents to provide a fantastic visitor experience locally.

Guests can expect great food, smooth coffee, newly refurbished accommodation and high levels of service and attention to detail, supported by local suppliers to deliver an excellent experience.


Under ownership by The Auckland Project, your base will be The Park Head Hotel & Restaurant with the opportunity to work elsewhere within the organisation on occasion, supporting the wider team on other diverse areas of the project.

The role purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Auckland Project.

As a member of the team, you will deliver exceptional hospitality, creating unique customer experiences in a happy creative workplace founded in professionalism and with a strong team ethic.

We are looking for people who can channel their passion to consistently exceed customer expectations.

This role is predominantly food and beverage based but you may also be asked to work in housekeeping or as a kitchen porter in the kitchens.

Shifts will cover Monday-Sunday, various early/late shifts including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

The post-holder is responsible for the following key deliverables and accountabilities:

  • Working as part of a small team of servers and occasionally with a larger external team offsite
  • To act upon instructions from the Food and Beverage Supervisor or Duty Manager to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for guests
  • Become familiar with menus and wines served across the Hotel
  • To prepare the venue (including set up of tables with cutlery, glassware and napkins) in the restaurant, lounge and bar areas and function room.
  • To take orders, prepare and serve drinks, barista style coffee and food items, clearing tables upon completion
  • Ensuring exceptionally high standards of service and presentation at all times
  • Smart, well presented and capable of remaining calm whilst under pressure in a busy environment
  • Adhering to good health, safety and access practice, ensuring familiarity and compliance with our, procedures and guidelines and the health and safety of visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors at all times.
  • Using a till system
  • Knowledge of menus, allergens, and presentation standards
  • Carry out all cleaning duties allocated in accordance with the cleaning schedule
  • Work flexibly with regards to availability across the needs of the business
  • Ensure working areas and public areas are kept clean and tidy during opening, whilst in use and close down according to cleaning checklists
  • To support the housekeeping team
  • To support the kitchen team as a kitchen porter

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across departments to achieve our organisational objectives
  • Maintain excellent relationships with the large team of volunteers and colleagues
