School Caretaker


Location:
Blackwood

Pay:
£11 - £12 per hour
Hours: 6am - 2pm/2pm - 10pm, Monday - Friday

Type of role:
Temporary - 6 months

Reed Education are currently recruiting for a "School Caretaker" to join a fantastic school based in Blackwood. This will be a temporary role for the next 6 months starting as soon as possible. If you have relevant experience and are happy to have an enhancedDBS check (if you do not already have one) then we would like to hear from you

Main duties

  • Locking and unlocking the school buildings and grounds.
  • Limiting access to unauthorised personnel.
  • General porterage duties including movement of furniture and equipment within the school.
  • Handyperson duties which may include minor repairs to furniture and fixtures and minor decorating tasks.
  • Keeping the whole site safe and accessible e.g. snow clearance, distribution of salt/grit to avoid slips/falls, sweeping mud/leaves from pathways and playground areas etc.
  • Check that all lights in classrooms, corridors, toilets, external areas and storerooms etc. are in working order each afternoon/evening, replacing any bulbs/fuses found not to be working.
  • Make a regular check of electrical sockets and electrical appliances to ensure that they are in working order and comply with safety standards.
  • To assist in carrying out the regular health and safety checks in accordance with the school's health and safety policy.
