Job summary:

Working in the Home Ownership Business Control team the Quality, Control and Improvement officer ( Officer

  • Business Control, our internal title) will play an important role in delivering the Home Ownership Conduct Risk strategy and directorate control and process reviews

This role includes:

  • Ensuring delivery of customer outcomes;
  • Process reviews and control assessments.


Standards adherence, alongside policy and procedural compliance within the Home Ownership directorate, across Homes England and with our external service providers.


Job description:


The role will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects and activity to support the ongoing stewardship of a loan book valued at c.£19bn and with around 250,000 customers.

There are some rewarding and ambitious projects to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing solutions to the portfolio management and customer outcomes of our loans services.


You will work with the Head of Business Control, who is dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, identifying improvements and aiming for best practice, taking an innovative and creative approach to people, customer and data issues.

Working with key stakeholders and a professional team you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective oversight and advice to deliver good customer outcomes, effective control environment and efficient service delivery.


Person specification:


Whilst our day job is to deliver first class service to our customers and stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.

You'll be comfortable supporting the customer-centric strategy by shaping and delivering a risk based conduct and service review plan.

You will have experience and understanding of best practice standards covering governance, conduct risk, control reviews and compliance preferably within financial services and/or customer focussed environments.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy.

You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as the customer facing Home Ownership team.

You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.


As an experienced assurance, risk management and/or compliance professional you'll understand how to manage colleagues, be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way and have an interest in the risk and compliance field.
