We're looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team in Barnsley If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy providing excellent customer service, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Barnsley, clinic features 10 modern consulting rooms and four theatres, complete with X-ray and dental suites.


Dedicated to the well-being of our furry friends, we boast a separate dog and cat ward, proudly earning the title of a cat-friendly clinic.

Our caseload is as diverse as it gets, ranging from surgical and medical cases to in-house orthopaedic procedures.

We have recently introduced nurse-led care during the night. This ensures that our patients, in stable conditions, experience a comfortable and monitored recovery overnight in their kennels.

Common Duties Include

  • Welcoming clients and their pets for appointments and maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude at all times
  • Answering telephone calls/queries from clients
  • Handling medication prepared by the veterinary surgeon and handing to clients
  • Working within a team (and at times alone) to ensure the surgery's reception, waiting area and consultation rooms are maintained to a high standard of clinical cleanliness
  • Dealing with stressed or upset clients and connecting them to the appropriate teams where required
  • Taking payments, registering new clients and addressing client concerns
  • Organisation and restocking of the practice where required
  • Complying with all health and safety procedures
  • Complying with data protection legislation to ensure client and patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
Core Skills

  • Enthusiastic and motivated to provide a high level of customer service, while taking on a confident attitude
  • Strong organisation skills, open, honest and trustworthy
  • Pleasant manner, compassionate towards clients and pets
  • Strong communicator and able to confidently communicate with clients and staff of all levels (Vet Nurses, Vets and Directors)
  • IT Literature and a fast learner
  • Takes direction and can work from own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fastpaced environment
  • Experience of a client/customerfacing role in a fastpaced environment essential
  • Willing to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
Job particulars

  • 20 hours per week
  • Shifts between 8 am and 7 pm covering Monday to Saturday
- £10.90/hour
