    Are you someone who wants to have a positive impact on your community? Do you have experience in preventing and alleviating homelessness? West Berkshire Council is searching for a committed and skilled Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer to join our Housing Service team and help us address the crucial issue of homelessness.

    As a Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer, you'll be working under the guidance of the Homelessness Prevention & Relief Team Leader, playing a vital role in offering support to individuals and families facing homelessness risk. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

    • Managing a caseload related to homelessness prevention, focusing primarily on migration-related issues
    • Conducting detailed assessments to determine eligibility for housing support
    • Creating personalized support plans to cater to each client's specific needs
    • Collaborating with external organizations and partners to access necessary services and resources
    • Providing advice on housing options, rights, and responsibilities

    In order to thrive in this position, we are seeking someone who:

    • Is well-versed in homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
    • Has experience in evaluating and handling homelessness prevention and relief cases
    • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, establishing rapport easily
    • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle a demanding workload
    • Shows sound judgment and decision-making skills, even under pressure
