Our client, a highly reputable law firm in Central Plymouth who are a stone's throw away from the seafront, are seeking several Legal Assistants across three of their departments - Litigation, Personal Injury and Commercial.

As the successful Legal Assistant, you will provide direct support to fee earners and will be expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.


As the Legal Assistant you will:

  • Handle new enquiries and create new files including setting up client details on the case management system.
  • Prepare standard and nonstandard correspondence and documents through audiotyping and word processing.
  • Carry out day to day admin dutues such as daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files
  • Liaise with clients and contacts by telephone and in writing.
  • Prepare mail and enclosures for despatch.
  • Take overflow calls and directing them to the appropriate department.
  • Occasionally cover reception.
  • Prepare meeting rooms as necessary and tidy and clear rooms at the end of meetings.
  • Provide support to other team members as required.
  • Undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards selfdevelopment.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and clients' documentation and information.
Essential

  • Good organisational skills, high degree of initiative, able to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Fully conversant with Word, Outlook and Excel and used to working with computerised case management systems.
  • Confident telephone and interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate a high level of customer care.
  • Well presented, friendly and approachable.
  • High integrity and high energy.
  • Sets quality as a prime objective
  • Discrete and aware of the duties of confidentiality in respect of client and firm business.
  • Able to cope with changing levels of work
  • Ability to multitask, work well and remain calm under pressure.
  • A pleasant but assertive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients.
Desirable

  • A wish to develop a role in the legal sector and for future career development and qualification.
  • Experience of wills, probate and estate administration work flow processes.
  • Used to working under LEXCEL or other quality standard.
Salary is £18,540 - £19,500 p/a, working Monday - Friday 35 hours per week with an hour's lunch.
