Working in a busy Car PoundOverall Purpose of Job
To assist customers, ensuring that they are carried out in line with legal and council policies and procedures.
Proactively deal with customer requests, car pound devices, and client requests
Be responsible for the organisation of all vehicles within the car pound, including maintaining an accurate car pound log, assisting with the scrap and auction process, and monitoring the activities of the tow trucks.
Job Context
The post holder reports to the Enforcement Team Leader.
- The post holder has no line management responsibility.
- The post holder has no budget responsibility.
- The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to meet service requirements.
- The post holder will be required to wear a uniform and to ensure that all staff adhere to this dress code.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
- Some of this role will be performed outdoors (in all weather conditions)
- Ensure that the car pound log is consistently accurate, and updated as vehicles enter and leave the car pound
- Allocate vehicles bought into car pound to specified bays
- Able to handle large amount of money whist serving customers in line with legal and client requirements.
- Fill out damage reports for vehicles bought into car pound
- Ensuring all vehicles are recorded for when entering and leaving the car pound.
- Ensuring all outstanding penalties have been charged correctly
- To seize disabled badges as requested
KNOWLEDGE:
A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel.
A clean valid driving licence
EXPERIENCE:
Experience of working in a customer facing role
Past experience working in a car pound environment would be desirable, although not essential as full training will be provided.
Ability to write simple reports
Must be smart and presentable, courteous with a personable manner.
Must be able to communicate with the public and have the ability to remain calm whilst dealing with difficult situations.
A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to write simple reports and complete handwritten notes.
The successful applicant should be both flexible and have good organisational skills.
Ability to patrol as directed within the car pound.
