The role of the Pulses Trader is to meet the profit objectives set by the company, deliver the required data gathering and analytics following the instructions as set out by the Head of Grain Trading whilst being responsible for the following


Main Responsibilities:


Trading

  • Collate and analyse fundamental market information and provide monthly updates to the Head of Grain Trading.
  • Effectively interpret market information in order to determine market sentiment. To verbally provide the Head of Grain Trading, plus other relevant traders with information about the daily market, detailing trades in the day, their relevant basis together with your market opinion.
  • On a weekly basis you will be required to produce a written report detailing the customer contact during the week and the volume of business that has been done compared to previous season and targets.
  • To be involved with the trading of Pulses within the specified risk parameters in consultation with the Head of Grain Trading. Performance will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Grain Trading, make prices/markets and effectively deliver these to the UK sales force to the benefit of the company. Actively communicate with the ADM Agriculture sales team about any market movements/price changes.
  • Liaise closely with the Logistics and Shipping departments to make cost efficient trading and execution decisions.
  • Provide key trading partners with daily trading information.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key strategic trading partners.
  • Execute trades in the most costeffective manner. Review all execution overspend and nonbudget costs that impact on P/L as measured with the monthly review of the trading results.
  • Overriding responsibility to meet the objectives set by the company and follow instructions set out by the Head of Grain Trading.

  • Assertive, with strong selfmotivation and has the ability to set challenging goals
  • The ability to negotiate in challenging circumstances and make fast and accurate decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Commercially focused and able to translate the product
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
