Visiting Teacher (VT)
Salary:
£ £34.76 per hour inclusive of LWA

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
Main Purpose of the Job
To teach on a range of courses within a School or Schools and contribute to course development and administration.
A satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level will be required.
- To teach on a range of courses in an appropriate area of the curriculum.
- To actively promote and implement the College's Single Equalities Scheme within all aspects of the post.
- To implement curriculum and course development within the area of work.
- To participate in course team meetings and to offer support to team members.
- To monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement, and to keep accurate and updated course and student records including registers, reports, assessment records, statistical data and course files.
- To work with the course team to review the course and to ensure that the College quality assurance cycle is implemented.
- To develop own learning programmes/materials in line with aims, objectives, mode of assessment and accreditation, and to prepare schemes of work.
- To support and promote the transition of students with parents/carers and external agencies as appropriate and to provide pastoral care.
- To meet students regularly on an individual basis to discuss academic progress, and to support in their choice of progression routes.
- To identify students requiring extra support and refer them appropriately.
- To take up issues of equal opportunities and other quality issues regarding the college that are raised by students.
- To write termly reports on students and to contribute to references as required.
- To monitor attendance, timekeeping, homework etc., and to deal with those students who are not performing to required standards.
- To interview students and to implement enrolment and induction programmes.
- To implement established student disciplinary procedures as necessary, in line with quality procedures and equal opportunities.
- To be involved with course moderation/verification.
General Duties:
- To comply with the requirements of College Policies and Procedures.
- To be responsible for the College's Performance Development Review Procedures, participating in the College's staff development and training schemes and identifying and providing training and development for staff to meet the requirements of their jobs.
- To be responsible for the adherence of the College's Single Equality Scheme, and actively promote and implement the Scheme as it applies to the role within the college.
- To be responsible for the implementation of and compliance with the College's Health and Safety policy.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Qualifications:
Essential Desirable
Personal skills in English, Mathematics by holding GCSE Grade C/4 qualification or above in English and Maths or a Functional Skills Qualification at Level 2 in English and maths.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
Essential Desirable
Successful experience of designing and delivering learning.
Successful teaching/training experience with young people/adults.
Ability to embed English, Mathematics, and ICT support in vocational classes.
Demonstrable knowledge of incorporating Equality and Diversity within the curriculum.
Understanding of Child and Vulnerable Adult protection (Safeguarding Agenda) and the willingness to increase knowledge.
An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment.
Skills and competencies:
Essential Desirable
The ability to deliver excellence in teaching and learning.
Ability to relate to and motivate students from a variety of backgrounds and ages, and to employ effective teaching strategies.
Good standard of written/verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
