Our client is a leading commercial set of chambers which offers outstanding legal minds combined with a modern and commercial disputes experience.

They are seeking to hire an experienced Head of Finance on a permanent basis. Reporting directly into the CEO this role will supervise a small team. The role is suited to someone ambitious with the desire to take on strategic responsibility further downthe line.


Duties:


  • Oversight of all aspects of Chambers' accounting.
  • Assisting and guiding senior management in financerelated matters.
  • Reporting to senior management, the Finance Committee and Board.
  • Produce budgets and draft yearend accounts.
  • Overseeing the Chambers UK and international bank accounts.
  • Liaising with banks and HMRC.
  • Managing barristers and staff loan accounts.
  • Managing monthly 'grant' payments for pupils, including requests for 'drawdowns.'
  • VAT matters and corporation tax.
  • Line management of three staff
  • The provision of appropriate and timely data analysis in respect of business performance.
  • Be a member of the Finance Committee.

Person Specification

  • You will be an experienced, qualified finance professional who is extremely knowledgeable and capable of overseeing all aspects of the Chambers' financial management, including financial accounting and reporting, credit control and data analysis.
  • You will have experience of working within an SME, ideally from the legal sector or a similar "bill for time" professional services environment.
  • You will have strong and persuasive communication skills and well developed interpersonal qualities.
  • You will have experience in organisations with a complex governance structure where stakeholder management is a critical element in achieving goals.
This is a permanent position; the company are open to full time or 4 day a week applicants.

The salary is up to £70-90,000 per annum before pro rata. The Chambers also offer an exceptional benefits package including income protection, pension and medical insurance.
