Job Summary:

The Distribution Centre stores, processes and prepares donated stock for distribution via transport vehicles


The post holder will:
Support the Depot in all operational duties within the Distribution Centre.
Ensure that shops receive good quality stock on a regular basis in order to maximise income.

Key Working Relationships

Retail staff.
Depot staff.
Transport staff.
Shop staff.
Volunteers.
Other St. David's Hospice employees.

Training Providers.
Recycling Companies (unloading recycling and waste).


Key Areas of Responsibility:

To support the Retail Manager in operational tasks as required.
To sort, collect and deliver donated stock to SDHC shops as required following SDHC procedures.
To move stock between shops as required and assist shop staff and volunteers by placing deliveries in earmarked areas.
To collect donated items from donors as requested.
To deliver sold items as planned.
To plan and undertake Tip-Trips (waste disposal and recycling) as necessary, following set procedures.
To record customer deliveries and collections.
To help promote SDHC and its work both to volunteers and the public.
To comply with H & S Regulations including safe handling procedures.
To transport volunteers to and from their place of work as necessary.
To ensure vehicles are kept clean and serviced as required.
To attend meetings and to report on progress identifying areas requiring action.
To deliver / collect any clinical services equipment as necessary.

Additional Duties

Any review will be undertaken by the line manager, in consultation with the post holder.

Person Specification


Skills:

Ability and a good understanding on how to work with volunteers & training agencies
Excellent customer service skills and good interpersonal communication skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to plan & prioritise workloads
Experience and understanding of team working
Holder of a full, clean, valid UK driving licence

Personal Qualities

High level of physical fitness to cope with lifting and moving of goods, including furniture
Empathy with the work of St. David's Foundation Hospice Care
Flexibility
Perseverance
