Glencore Copper is seeking a Senior Project Cost Controller to support the growth and development of our Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England.

This role will support our projects and current operations in Africa.

In this role you will:


  • Perform timely and accurate completion of costs reviews and ensure that the scope reflects the engineering scope.
  • Reviews the development of cost structures, reports (weekly, monthly, etc) and provides guidance to assure complete and reasonable completion to contractors and third parties.
  • Assists projects in identifying scope deviations and trends.
  • Ensures that lessons learned are incorporated into cost, estimating, and planning when applicable.
  • Coordinates & participates with other functions (construction, contracts, etc.) on the reviews and definition of costing structures.
  • Assists & coordinates in the input and maintenance of cost and estimating metrics and others applicable data bases and benchmarking.
  • Supports the preparation of weekly and monthly project reports.
  • Participate in the cost change management.
  • Coordinates with other functions for obtaining the required input to and concurrence on the costs and estimates.
  • Coordinates reviews and progress meetings with contractors and third parties for the project and others
  • Monitor, control and forecast project cost
  • Execute project according to scope, schedule and budget
  • Highlight cost concerns and recommend improvements.
  • Detailed tracking, reviewing, and reporting of project actual financial performance monthly including variances from budget/forecasts, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Project close out
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Accruing of project cost for month end reporting
    Experience
  • Extensive project cost control experience for budgeting, reporting commitments, forecasting, change/trend management, Cost Breakdown Structure and Code of Accounts design.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP and SAP PS/EPPM preferred.
  • Advanced user knowledge of Excel, with macros and Visual Basic programming preferred.
  • User level experience on Ares PRISM, Hexagon EcoSys, or Oracle Unifier is desirable.
  • Proven experience with brownfield project design and execution.
  • Excellent risk management and quantification expertise with good understanding of the residual risk value and revised risk impact.
  • Basic knowledge of cost estimating techniques and contingency range analysis estimation.
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills both including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Autonomous, selfmotivated, highly proactive, and resilient attitude to drive change and improvement initiatives.
  • Business, facilitation, analytical, leadership/ management and negotiation capabilities.
  • Quickly understand project concepts and requirements supported by a broad knowledge of commercial and financial principles.
  • Relevant project owner's and engineering service providers team experience.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • Tertiary Qualifications
  • Engineering, Construction management, Project management and/or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in largescale and complex projects, including but not limited to Civil, Structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Piping).
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role within the resources or petrochemical industry. Experience within mining and/or EPC/EPCM companies will be a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical, expedient, and decisive manner. Technical knowledge of project control, engineering, procurement, contract administration and construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in general costing and estimating systems, cost control, change management and trending programs.
  • Strong understanding of project control management considering different contract delivery models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization with ability to leverage networking capabilities to drive and influence decisions.
  • Experience working in Africa would be advantageous.
  • English language skills. French would be advantageous.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
