Glencore Copper is seeking a Project Services Principal to support the growth and development of our global Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England.

Our Team


The Capital Management and Project Services team provides project support and governance to Glencore Copper's global mining operations and development projects.

With a global scope this role in our new Technical and Projects Hub in Maidenhead provides you an excellent opportunity to interact with business leaders and influence future direction of our operations and projects.


Main Objectives of the Job:


The role is accountable for services and systems support to the Regional Head of Projects across project portfolios in Africa Region.

It is focused on supporting project services processes to enable Copper's Capital Management Governance and Assurance through the deployment of the Capital Management Framework (CMF).

Ensure capital investments in Africa region, whether for sustaining or expansionary purposes is appropriately motivated, executed and managed according to established policy, procedures, and practices.


In this role you will:


  • Ensure capital investments into respective region of the copper business, whether for sustaining or expansionary purposes is appropriately motivated, executed and managed according to established policy, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide input to the Copper CMF, including relevant processes, systems, and structures for the relevant region.
  • Support with capital project governance and assurance activities across the regional project portfolio for the Copper business, including interaction with and coordination with the Project Management Offices (PMOs) at sites and project steering committees.
  • Assist with effective project reporting across the regional project portfolio to increase transparency, perform cost and schedule analysis and support project reporting to facilitate informed strategic decision making and controls processes.
  • Support identification of risks, ensuring all the necessary CMF requirements and standards have been adhered to.
  • Conduct detailed project cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting and schedule analyses as part of the capital assurance activities.
  • Provide analytics and strategic advice to inform the Copper Portfolio Capital Planning and Program Management requirements of the portfolio

Operating Context:


Work delegated by the Respective Regional Head of Projects for Africa Region in line with the General Manager Project Services and Capital Management to support capital project reporting and adherence to project budgets and timelines.

  • Life of Asset (LoA) Plan, 4Year Budget and Operating Plan.
  • Monthly Project Reports.
  • Capital Management Framework (CMF)
  • Company policies and procedures.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • A Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- +9 years of relevant experience in Project Services and/or Project Controls and/or Project Management Office (PMO) during all project stages.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Semiautonomous, selfmotivated, proactive with a resilient attitude.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated basic commercial and financial awareness.
  • English language skills (preferably bilingual French/English).
  • Experience working with EPC/M and Owners project delivery organisations preferred.
  • Prior experience in endtoend delivery of large projects (>USD 150m) highly desirable.
