Purpose/Overview of Job role:

As Finance Assistant you will work alongside both the Financial Controller & Accounts Assistant to ensure that accurate and timely financial information is reported.

You will be dealing with control account reconciliations and providing support for management account preparation.


Job Role/ Key Responsibilities And accountabilities

Assist with:

  • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes
  • Supporting monthend and yearend close processes
  • Cash posting and allocations in GBP and currencies
  • Preparation and reconciliation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Credit card management including allocation of costs and reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial information
  • Maintaining control account balances such as inventory, debtors, creditors, bank etc
  • To positively promote the Company and its products and services, and ensure that a professional image is provided at all times to suppliers, customers and colleagues
  • To undertake, when requested by the Financial Controller or Directors, additional reasonable tasks and responsibilities not outlined above in order to support the success and continuing performance of the Department and Company
  • To abide by the Company's confidentiality agreement when carrying out all tasks as part of this role.

Key Skills Required:


  • Preparation of regular bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
  • Maintaining and recording of Company credit cards
  • Use of online banking
  • Assist with monthly reporting of financial information to Group
  • Preparation of accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain schedule to support monthly accounts
  • You must be able to demonstrate good judgement skills showing sound and logical decision making, and a handson approach
  • Possess good timemanagement skills, with the ability to multitask, work under pressure and plan workflow to meet deadlines
  • Have the ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer focussed working environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, demonstrating a logical and methodical approach to all tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work as member of a team
  • Have an ordered approach to documentation and procedures
  • Excellent accounting software user skills

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications Required:


  • Good understanding of business as well as financial issues
  • Overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Able to work on modern ERP & IT systems
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and solid understanding of accounting software principles
  • Willing to begin AAT training (Study support given)

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications Desirable:


  • 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the monthend/year end close process

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent

£22,000.00 per year
