    About the Role:

    We're seeking a dedicated Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our emergency department, you'll provide direct clinical care, supervise staff, and contribute to the teaching and development of medical professionals.

    Services Relevant to the Post:
    • Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit
    • Adjacent Radiology department
    • Seven-day per week Mental Health review
    • Major Trauma Unit within the Wessex Major Trauma Network
    • Transfer medical links including HEMS, Coast Guard, and Ambulance services
    • Resuscitation room and Majors' cubicles with central monitoring
    • Co-located Urgent Treatment Centre providing Minor Injury and Illness services
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct scheduled shifts for routine assessment and treatment of patients in the Emergency Department
    • Supervise and provide clinical advice to medical and nursing staff
    • Participate in teaching nursing staff, junior doctors, and medical students
    • Undertake professional development, audit, and ensure clinical governance standards are met
    • Communicate complex and sensitive information in a reassuring manner to patients, staff, and the public
    About You:
    • MBBS or equivalent qualification
    • Membership/Fellowship with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine
    • GMC registration and licence to practice
    • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine via CCT, CESR, or European Community rights
    • Completion of a recognized training programme in Emergency Medicine
    • Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and competence in emergency medicine
    • Knowledge of current trends in the specialty
