As a Barclays Principal Investments, you will be a key part of the London-based sustainable impact capital team.

Focusing on the full cycle execution and portfolio management of investments, your responsibility lies with environmentally focused, early-stage companies in the Sustainable Impact Capital Programme.

What will you be doing?

  • Dealing with preinvestment activities, identifying key themes and focus areas, sourcing, presenting deal opportunities and developing the strategic case
  • Performing financial modelling and analysis, selection and use of appropriate valuation methodologies and inputs for the proposed investment (e.g. DCF, multiples, etc)
  • Doing a commercial analysis of deal documentation to ensure the docs accurately reflect the underlying economics (as modelled), reviewing for consistency and liaising with legal
  • Performing due diligence, obtaining Infrastructure opinions on regulatory treatment, accounting, tax, etc during the financial analysis and deal approval process
  • Being responsible for managing the deal approval process through to execution
  • Accounting for the daytoday management of existing investments, acting as the shareholder representative for a portfolio of deals
  • Reviewing regularly portfolio with senior leadership team to map the market and identifying where Barclays does and does not have a presence; create and execute plan
  • Overlaying management's view of market evolution, regulatory landscape changes, etc to define an expected future state and potential scenarios

What we're looking for:


  • Experience of Venture Capital investments
  • Numerical, organised, selfstarting with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of locations, personnel, functions, and activities of external institutions relating to the work of the areas and/or 'specialisms' of the Team
  • Track record of experience working in a highpressure, confidential, transactional environment

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Professional business qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Experience of data management
  • Experience of valuation concept
  • Project Management skills

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links.
