An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a music focused post-16 Specialist Provider, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged year olds across our three bases in Swanley, Canterbury and Brighton.


At SupaJam we use our students' passion for contemporary music to ignite a love for education, and we champion achievement across our Music Practitioner, English, Maths and Life Skills syllabuses.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the centre of information within the base between each department, communicating with the manager of each department.
  • Know all staff roles and effectively delegate tasks: the Base Leader will have the authority to ask any member of staff to action a task, based on being the centre of information. They themselves will not generally be student facing, apart from in emergency situations.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment and take reasonable steps to address any issues that may impact this.
  • Conduct and coordinate staff meetings.
  • Oversee staff training for the base.
  • Support with the management of events.
  • Support with emergency staffing during high staff absences.
  • Opening and/or closing the base and general security, including oversight of all visitors.
  • Ensure the base is fully resourced i.e. furniture, food, cleaning materials, signing off on purchase expenses of up to £100.
  • Oversee all health and safety within the base (including fire and lockdown drills, ensure building and activity specific risk assessments have been completed, ensure the building is fire safety compliant and oversee first aid).
  • Oversee medication MARS charts.
  • Complete Student Risk assessments, Individual Health Care Plans, accident and incident forms and PEEP's.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of the building.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the base, completing minor repairs or organising services to repair and replace items where necessary.
  • Ensure the base is compliant with the Data Protection and CCTV policy.
  • Ensure display boards are refreshed regularly and all information notices/posters are accurate and current.
  • Communicate with SLT emergency decisions such as closing the base due to poor weather or extreme circumstances. In emergency situations, this may take place outside of work hours.
  • Oversee staff and student communication where decisions may impact the running of the base i.e. the closure of the base. In emergency situations, this may take place outside of work hours.
  • Report writing complete the Quality Improvement Plan, data collection and report, and monthly department reports.
  • Update relevant policies as directed by SLT.
  • Oversee room scheduling.
  • Ensure changes to daily schedules and routines are communicated to students and parents in a timely manner, working closely with the other managers to communicate upcoming events.
  • Support the teachers to maintain the attendance of students.
  • Support the staff to manage behaviour of the students.
  • Contribute to the annual reviews and inyear reviews of students with EHCPs.
  • Complete consults, coordinate tours and liaise with Local Authority and other providers regarding new starters.
  • Undertake relevant learning and development relating to role.
  • Undertake regular and mandatory training.
  • Participate in, support the coordination of, and run bitesize and workshop sessions.
  • Attend CPD days.
  • Take responsibility for personal development and personal objective setting.
  • Travel to other bases for CPD is expected but mínimal.
  • Undertake the role of DSL for the base.
  • Investigate safeguarding investigations where needed.
  • Manage low, medium and high level safeguarding concerns. Communicate high level safeguarding matters with the Director of Safeguarding.
  • Record low, medium and high level safeguarding concerns on CPOMS, detailing the incident and demonstrating the identification and management of risk.
  • Liaise with and make referrals to external agencies and statutory bodies in relation to safeguarding matters including (but not limited to) the police, social services, schools, courts, social workers from other agencies,
