An exciting opportunity has arisen for some enthusiastic reporting sonographers to join our friendly team at LUHFT.

Our ultrasound team work in primary, secondary & tertiary centres across 6 Liverpool sites allowing diverse variety of cases throughout our workload.

We are a large, busy university teaching trust with a major trauma unit & multiple specialist medical areas. Our experience in acute patient management & diagnosis is exceptional priding ourselves on our multidisciplinary approach.

We are a very inclusive department and are supportive of flexible working patterns, offering a 7 day service across the 2 acute hospital sites at Aintree and Royal Liverpool.

Our multi-disciplinary team undertakes a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations. We are a mainly sonographer-led service which includes acute inpatients and emergency admission work. Our well-established sonographic team performs all aspects of abdominal, gynaecological, vascular and MSK work.

We expect our sonographers to run their own list, manage demand & participate in training. We actively encourage & promote CPD with all of our staff. No obstetric ultrasound is performed in our Trust.
We are keen to encourage new techniques and special interests in our department. We actively encourage and promote CPD and learning with all of our staff involved in our regular ultrasound CPD sessions and through attendance and presenting at external courses and conferences. Sonographer led peer review audit in undertaken regularly.
As part of our busy workload our sonographers have special interests in gynaecology, herniae ,head & neck, scrotal, dialysis & vascular access, transplant, lithotripsy ,vascular & MSK ultrasound, which is incorporated into their working patterns and workflow.
We are a keen training centre for new sonographers with a mentorship framework for trainees and newly qualified staff in place to help with their training and eventual transition into advanced practice. As a university teaching hospital, we also are involved in the training of specialist registrars in all aspects of diagnostic ultrasound.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

Performance of clinical ultrasound duties as delegated by the Head of Ultrasound, Lead Sonographer, Consultant Sonographer/Clinical Lead for Ultrasound and the deputy lead sonographers throughout the Ultrasound Department.
Maintenance of a high standard of all aspects of ultrasonography.
Issuing of independent diagnostic ultrasound reports according to protocol and within agreed scope of practice.
To actively contribute to and attend staff meetings, audit and training/CPD sessions.
Participate in the Peer-Review and QA programmes within the department.
