About Hope Street

Hope Street is an exciting, brand-new, purpose-built residential community-based service, designed in collaboration with women, for justice-involved women and their children in Hampshire. Trauma-informed by design it will offer a safe andsupportive environment where women and their children can access education, practical and therapeutic support and activities that build confidence, self-esteem and skills and provide the opportunity to build a fulfilling and happy life and play a meaningfulrole within society.


About the Role


You will be part of a brand-new team setting out to deliver this new and exciting residential service for women and their children from Hampshire.

Hope Street is a 24-hour service, and you will be part of the Night Team that will be on site to provide aresponse to any issues that arise for the women during the night.

Your main responsibility is for ensuring the security of the Hope Street site by keeping unauthorised people out, proactively responding to any unwanted attention being directed at the Hub duringthe night seeking assistance from the police where necessary, and for providing additional support to the Night Support Partners to respond to any incidents or emergencies on site relating to the residents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible site safety and security service to both sites between the hours of 10pm and 7.30am, seven days per week on a rota of four nights on/four nights off.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras to detect any potential intruders attempting to gain access to the site over the site perimeters and keep accurate logs of any activity.
  • Carry out regular checks throughout the night of all perimeter fencing, gates, and entry doors to the buildings to prevent unauthorised access, increasing the frequency of these checks when specific concerns relating to residents have been identified.
  • Check that all equipment not needed at night is switched off (ovens, hobs, TVs, lights).
  • Let women returning to Hope Street after the main front door is locked into the site through the private entrance.
  • Maintain accurate records of site patrols and any engagement with residents or members of the public who may be passing the site at night.
  • Provide additional support to the Night Support Partners on duty in the event of any accidents or incidents involving women or their children living at either site.
  • Summon assistance from the relevant agency (paramedics, police, the fire service or emergency contractors) in the event of emergencies or serious incidents and act as the key point of contact to ensure they can access and exit the premises safely.

Essential Experience:


  • Experience of working with people experiencing multiple issues (homelessness, mental health and/or substance use problems, domestic abuse, exploitation, and involvement with the justice system).
  • Building management and site security management.
  • Managing critical incidents and liaising with emergency services.
  • Responding appropriately to challenging behaviour and deescalating tension in a safe manner.
  • Using Case Management Systems for data and outcome recording.
  • Providing gender specific and trauma responsive services.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes for vulnerable adults and vulnerable children.

Knowledge/Skills

  • SIA Licenced or a willingness to achieve this qualification.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation in relation to trespass, breaking and entering, and courtissued injunctions.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the use of CCTV and the sharing of CCTV images.
  • Knowledge of fire safety management and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations 2018 to ensure the appropriate management of personal and sensitive personal data.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure that health and safety management within the Hub and the residential accommodation complies with all relevant legislation.
