    We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Audiologist to join the UCL evidENT Research Team and UCLH Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, in a role comprising of clinical ENT, hearing and balance research and the delivery of high-quality standard audiology care.

    As a member of evidENT, you will contribute your audiological expertise both in the day-to-day delivery of our varied research study portfolio and in the design and submission processes through which we turn new ideas into active projects. Within the RNENT & EDH Audiology department, you will provide world-class care to patients with a range of audiological conditions, working as part of a well-established team focusing on Adult Diagnostics. Main duties of the job In this role, the post holder will be able to:
    • Work with study investigators at multiple stages in the research cycle, including contributing audiological expertise to study design, implementation and later in the cycle to analysis and write-up.
    • Work with study investigators and support staff on various aspects of study deliver, including to identify and recruit study participants, consent participants, provide audiological care and study specific audiology, balance and behavioural assessments.
    • Support investigators and work with the Clinical Research Manager to ensure studies receive the required local approvals and are able to submit their studies to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
    • Contribute to the training of new research staff to the team, and participate in peer networks both within the evidENT team, UCLH BRC Hearing Health Theme, and the clinical division.
    In addition, they will manage a clinical caseload including:
    • Routine and complex assessment of hearing, balance and tinnitus disorders and interpretation of test results.
    • Comprehensive rehabilitation techniques, including counselling distressed patients / carers about hearing loss and associated problems.
    • Assessing suitability for hearing aid / cochlear implant and carrying out appropriate intervention.
    • Monitoring benefit from intervention and developing appropriate care pathways.

In this post, you will be joining the evidENT team, an interdisciplinary team of researchers working across the UCLH RNENT& EDH and UCL Ear Institute. The team of research audiologists, research nurses, data managers, trial managers, clinicians and scientists are located across the Ear Institute offices at 91 Gower Street and the RNENT & EDH. Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
    • BSc (Hons) in Audiology or equivalent (e.g. BAAT, Parts 1 and 2, Dip HE in Audiology, B/Tech Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement qualification).
    • MSc or equivalent qualification in relevant health area
    • HCPC or RCCP registered
    • Applied theoretical knowledge of the relevant assessment and therapeutic/rehabilitative procedures for the management of audiological or vestibular conditions in adults and/or children
    • Certificate of GCP (Good Clinical Practice)
    Experience Essential
    • Significant post-graduate experience in clinical audiology service delivery
    • Substantial post-graduate experience of working in a clinical research environment
    • Experience of planning and prioritising own workload under minimal supervision Experience of clinical research administration
    • Knowledge of Trust research ethics regulations
    Skills and Abilities Essential
    • Proven effectiveness in working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver clinical and non -clinical tasks
    • Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload, including under pressure

    Communication Essential
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Fluent English speaker
    • Ability to overcome barriers to communication in patients of all ages, especially with the profoundly deaf and patients reliant on sign or language interpreters
    • Managing daily communication and interaction with staff and colleagues
    • Good presentation skills
    • Able to build rapport and credibility with team, senior clinical and managerial colleagues
    Specific Requirements Essential
    • Willingness to work flexible hours and off - site on occasion
    • Ability to assist all patients groups (such as patients with physical limitations and a variety of complex needs) into and out of sound proofed rooms
