We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Support Workers to join our Special Needs Autistic Unit located in Newham, London.

Our unit is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and challenging behaviours.

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering our students to reach their full potential.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide individualised support to students with autism and challenging behaviours in the classroom and throughout the school environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing visual aids, social stories, and other communication tools to support student's understanding and engagement.
  • Promote independence and social skills development through structured activities and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students by maintaining a secure and inclusive environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviours, and any incidents, reporting to the appropriate staff members as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and challenging behaviours is essential.
  • Understanding of autism and its associated characteristics, as well as knowledge of effective strategies for supporting individuals with autism.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to challenging situations.
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education, autism studies, psychology, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
