Position Description

This Java Software Engineer role will work on a project to design, implement, and support the upgrade for our clients systems and implement new technology and processes for the Operational Support Centre.

CGI is the prime Technology service provider which bringstogether key industry partners providing specialist expertise, bespoke software, and product sets.

Due to the secure nature of this project, the Java Software Engineer will be based out of our Leatherhead, Surrey office 5 days a week.

Due to the secure nature of the programme/role, you will need to hold the highest level of UK Security Clearance, or be eligible to go through National Security Vetting to obtain this clearance
Your future duties and responsibilities

This Java Software Engineer position is to work as part of the development team, primarily concerned with developing new features for the solution.

The project requires a Developer who will be self-reliant and able to work largely independently with an agileenvironment.

We need a mix of skills to help complete some of the more challenging issues, such as redesign for performance improvements, rework to fix critical sizeable defects and implementation of new features.

The Java Software Engineer will be responsible for:
Implementing and testing key elements of the solution using appropriate technologies;
Updating existing software components to address gaps in functionality;
Working closely with the other developers to integrate the Portal and Service layer;
Performing a Peer Review of the software and software fixes developed by other team members
Supporting the integration of third party components of the solution;
Assisting with ongoing improvement of the project build and unit test framework (Maven and Jenkins).
Working closely with Product Owners to develop new features for the Shepherd solution.

Essential Technical Skills are:
Java

SVN (or other source code configuration control)
