About the role


We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Focus leadership team and lead the continuous improvement (CI) programme as a key enabler of Professional Services Together.


As Head of Continuous Improvement, you will use your CI expertise, your understanding of change and your project management experience to deliver a wide-ranging and engaging plan for cultural change across the University.

Ongoing initiatives include the very successful CI Local Practitioner Programme and the CI Training for Teams.

You will ensure that these continue to deliver good outcomes, as well as developing newer initiatives, such as Leadership training and working with both academic and central divisions/departments to develop local CI Centres of Excellence.


You will play a key role on the CI Community of Practice Steering Group, to build CI expertise across the organisation through sharing of successes, as well as people development and CI support events.

This is a key position in the Focus Leadership team, with line management responsibility for six Focus CI Practitioners.

The Leadership team work together to ensure that Focus continues to deliver high quality services to the University, whilst also responding to the development and support needs of our team.


About you


You will have a strong understanding of and enthusiasm for continuous improvement/Lean thinking and practices as well as experience of managing change successfully in a complex/devolved operating environment.

Your experience of planning and managing projects through the full life cycle will be key, as will be your highly effective verbal and written communication skills and your ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of seniority.

Your skills in people management, team motivation and creative thinking will be essential to ensuring effective delivery and contributing to the collaborative team working ethos of the Focus team.
