This advert is for a permanent consultant position in the Department of Neurosurgery, based at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

The post holder will be expected to provide a comprehensive service to patients, including access to weekly theatre lists, outpatient clinics, ward rounding and MDTs.

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the ongoing growth within the department and fulfill their role in the teaching of the trainees and other junior members of staff.

Out of hours work involves participation in a 1:12 on call rota whereby the occupant is expected to be able to manage general neurosurgical issues.

The post holder will be supported by a wide team of professionals at both junior and senior tiers.

All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.

This will be reviewed within 6 months (or earlier if required) of appointment and revised upwards if additional responsibilities are agreed.
