Role Overview:

Job Purpose:


Within the context of Council policies and resources, SEND legislative requirements, and best practice: To provide support to the Head of SEND and Inclusion and SEND Team Manager in managing and developing the functions relating to family, school and stakeholder engagement and children, young person and family liaison.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To lead on departmental and service communications with the SEND Partnership and stakeholders.
  • To lead on the SEND statutory functions relating to disagreement resolution and mediation.
  • To represent the Local Authority and manage appeals by providing a comprehensive, coordinated, and efficient response to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
  • To manage complex cases where a child or young person with SEND is undergoing an Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessment or has an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • The ability and experience to analyse and interpret data and present it effectively to various audiences to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support managers, with confidence to challenge where appropriate based on evidence.
  • Excellent organisational skills will be needed to agree, develop and manage the provision of appropriate business intelligence; ensuring managers have access to appropriate and timely information about their service and Oldham.
