Are you an Health and Safety Advisor looking to make an impact on the growth plans of a progressive main contractor?
We are delighted to be working with this thriving business based in the Barrhead area, a principal contractor who specialise in the refurbishment sector, upgrading affordable housing units across Scotland.
Our client is a market-leading, independently owned retro-fit specialist who are on a continued up-ward trajectory after 5 decades in the industry.
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will report directly to the Operations Director and ideally you will have worked in construction in a similar role and keen to bring your experience to improve and develop key HSQE delivery benchmarks across the business.
- Ability and knowledge to carry out site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance and company standards are adhered to.
- Provide competent advice on current legislation, policy and procedures to key stakeholders within the business.
- Advise and coach members of staff across the business and promote a forward thinking Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental culture ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
- Develop Construction Phase Plans, Risk and Method Statements as necessary and in line with legislation for site operations.
- Prepare and communicate relevant HSQE reports to key stakeholders.
- Attend internal and client meetings advising on health, safety, quality and environmental matters.
- Oversee the investigation and reporting of incidents whilst identifying the root cause analysis and course correction where necessary.
- Identify and understand the health & safety, environmental & associated legal requirements that are relevant to the work and ensure the teams comply with these.
- Advise, develop and deliver HSQE training as required.
- Conduct site inductions and regular toolbox talks.
- Support in the management of and audit of external accreditations, CHAS, Constructionline.
Qualifications & Skills required:
- NEBOSH Construction/General certificate as a minimum.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of CDM and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Professional body membership
- GradIOSH/CMIOSH or equivalent.
- Construction background (Highly desirable).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of engaging with clients, contractors, and regulators.
- Ability to work within a fastpaced environment and prioritise workload effectively.
- Willingness to travel across the central belt to conduct site visits regularly.
