Environment Project Manager - Delivering a Greener NHS Programme

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environment Project Manager - Delivering a Greener NHS Programme to join our team based Nationally.

The salary on offer is from £55,000 - £65,000 with Car Allowance & Bonus.


Job Summary Specifics


The role is to be a key member of the Delivering a Greener NHS Programme working with the Programme Manager, Programme Business Change Manager, Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts to support delivery of effective change and realisation of projectedbenefits.


The Environment Project Manager will provide project structure and guidance to the Environment Focus Area and associated project team, including the Environmental Compliance Manager & Focus Area Lead, wider Environment Team and Regional Energy and EnvironmentManagers.

They shall also work closely with executive sponsors and business owners and be responsible for leading the definition, design and delivery of a project(s) through engagement and collaboration with multiple stakeholders and teams and will be accountableto the Programme Manager and or the Project Sponsor.


The Environment Project manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering the key outcomes for the Energy Focus Area within the Programme.

This shall include managing multiple projects at varying stages of delivery, all with the overarching aim of wehave reduced our environmental impact through continuous improvement and risk management.


These projects will include:

Environment Management System - To implement effective systems and process to ensure compliance and minimise environmental impact by March 2024


Environmental Compliance Obligations - Guarantee environmental compliance of the NHS PS estate against key environmental legislation by March 2025


Climate Change Adaptation - To guarantee business readiness and resilience to effects of climate change through adequate adaptation and effective mitigation 2025


We are seeking an individual who is a confident self-starter and able to direct work across multiple business units, often dealing with ambiguity and requiring results to be delivered through others.

A background in delivering decarbonisation projects inan estates setting would also be an advantage.


Key Responsibilities
Define project scope, objective and outcomes and the supporting activities / deliverables.

Prepare, manage, and update project plans, track and report progress against the plan.

Identify, lead, and support a project team to deliver assigned milestones and activities.

Undertake and track project resource profiling.

Identify and manage project dependencies and interdependencies between other projects and programmes and the broader business.

Manage the coordination, approvals, and monitoring of project change requests.

Identify, manage and monitor project and resultant BAU KPIs, risks and issues

Manage and monitor stakeholders including delivery of appropriate communications.

Initiate extra activities and management interventions wherever gaps are identified, or issues arise.

Carry out progress reporting for the project at regular intervals in line with defined governance.

Manage project budget (Cost / Benefits) on behalf of the programme manager and or sponsor.

Work with the Programme Business Change Manager on the transition to BAU.
