About us

At Battersea, we aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help.

We give each one lots of love and expert care and get to know their characters and quirks so we can find them a new home that's just right for them.

All the knowledge we gather in our centres helps us to improve the lives of the animals we'll never meet, through our work with other rescue organisations and charities.

We also help people make informed choices when getting a pet, we provide training and welfare advice, and we campaign for changes in the law when we see that dogs and cats or their owners deserve better.

Join us and help us be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.

Income Generation department

Battersea's multiple award-winning Income Generation department raises around 60% of the Charity's total income.

Working with colleagues across the organisation, we provide members of the public and organisations with opportunities to engage with Battersea and to support our work.

Through continued investment, net fundraising income has risen from just £100,000 in 2010 to £13m in 2021, and we will continue to grow our income to make sure Battersea can be here for every cat and dog now and in the future.

Philanthropy and Trusts sits within the Philanthropy, Partnerships and Commercial team, made up of Trusts, Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships, Special Events, Commercial and a strategic fundraising support function.

As a team, our aim is to build a solid base of trust and major donor support through stewardship of existing supporters and building a network of senior volunteers to help us reach potential new supporters.

We develop strong cases for support showcasing the full range of Battersea's work, including front line care of dogs and cats at our three sites, refreshing animal care facilities in need of updates, lobbying for changes to the animal welfare laws, and providing strategic support to smaller rescues both in the UK and overseas.

The Trusts team aims to continually find new supporters who can make a significant difference to Battersea, while also managing relationships with existing partners, whether that is working closely with an individual to help them see how their money is being spent, reporting back to Trusts on the impact of their donation or delivering on agreed marketing plans with a Corporate Partner.

This area of fundraising has significant opportunity for growth as Battersea enjoys great brand awareness and a strong affinity to so many people.
