About the team/division

Hiscox is one of the oldest Lloyd's syndicates in the market focusing on providing specialist insurance to international clients. The claims team servicing this syndicate is recognised as one of the best in the London Market. The London Market Claims Team is a dynamic claims team based in London made up of claims underwriters who are empowered to think creatively, challenge the status quo and approach claims with a solutions focused lens. This results in Hiscox being able to provide the type of insurance solutions which are often too complex for other insurance companies.

The Role

What you'll be doing in the roleAdjust and manage, within authority, a portfolio of General Liability claims; and to handle claims outside authority with supervision. Provide excellent service to brokers and insureds, providing prompt and effective claim resolution, within clearly defined authority limits. Understand and fulfil Hiscox's obligations under the Lloyd's Claims Lead Arrangements. Manage third party suppliers; for example lawyers and adjusters, ensuring they provide excellent service and fair outcomes for all our customers. Identify and refer large or contentious claims appropriately; playing a full part in the overall claims function role of risk management and proper reserving. Work with underwriters successfully, for example to assist broker meetings (renewals), to help develop products to provide feedback on wordings and claims trends. A confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and written. A driven individual and effective team worker who is able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Someone who can analyse complex issues but is also pragmatic, commercial and solution orientated. Ability to prioritise work and work effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met.
Our must haves- Either a claims adjuster or lawyer with significant experience working in the London Market (ideally General Liability lines). Educated to degree level (preferably in law) or of graduate calibre. Experience of the US legal system, US insurance law and/or insurance community would be highly beneficial. Good mathematical skills (at least GCSE level or equivalent).Nice to have- Experience in other Casualty lines would be beneficial but not necessary for the role (e.g. D&O, Cyber, E&O)About Hiscox
