Finance Manager - Local Authority Place

Are you a seasoned Finance Manager with experience in Local Government? If you answered yes and you're on the lookout for a new temporary position, then we want to hear from you! We at Allen Lane are excited to be supporting a Council in filling this 6-month temporary role. Some of the key responsibilities include:

Leading the implementation of Budget Holder training throughout the Place Directorate
Serving as the Finance point of contact for Budget Holders across various departments within Place, such as Engineers, Highways, Waste, and Fleet services
Overseeing the team by monitoring capital expenditure reports
Providing financial management guidance, technical expertise, and business planning support within the Place Directorate
Offering advice on Directorate recovery and cost-cutting strategies to maintain financial stability
Implementing Budget Holder training across the entire budget within the Place Directorate
Being the Finance lead for several of the Council's Operational Services, including Engineers and Highways, Waste and Fleet Services, Greenspace, and Bereavement Services
Playing a key role in developing the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and the 2025/26 Budget, with a detailed focus on reviewing Fees and Charges
Leading the finances for Major Capital Projects, such as significant Town Centre Redevelopments
