Claims Assessor - Group Life
Work from home (required to attend an office day (Brighton) one day a month

During the initial training period you will need to be in the office 5 days a week for - 4 weeks

12 month fixed term contract

You'll be joining a business that is expanding, cares about the community and the environment.

You will get a 9% pension as standard, increasing to 13% company max contribution (plus your 4% = a 17% pension).

Role proposition

Claims Executive Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the timely and accurate assessment, decision making, settlement and communication of Employee Benefits Claims from beginning to end. These claims will be from our Group Life insurance products.
  • Act independently within agreed authority and service levels. Decision making authority is an essential requirement.
  • Provide exceptional levels of customers service to policyholders, clients and intermediaries in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage the claims relationship for all customers within an agreed portfolio.
  • Identify and investigate potential fraudulent claims.
  • Identify process issues and propose solutions for improvement within agreed business framework.
  • Liaising with the underwriters and external service providers to ensure all appropriate information is obtained to assist in the assessment and ongoing management of claims.
  • Manage claim appeals within agreed process and authority level.

Claims Specialist Essential Business Experience Required

  • Experience and exposure in handling claims, ideally Life claims but other claims will be accepted, and full training will be provided.
  • You will be able to demonstrate technical ability with claims assessment and decision making.
  • Knowledge of Medical or Scheme Underwriting would be beneficial.

Claims Specialist Essential Business Skills Required

  • Confidence in communicating the claim decision via the telephone and in writing.
  • Articulation and eye for detail.
