An opportunity has just become available to work in a PMLD school local to the Ipswich area.

The class is in the early years sector, and caters to the needs of the students with small class sizes, and special provisions.

This allows for you to engage the students in one to one education, taking each of their individual needs and independent learning journeys into consideration.

Within this role, you will be developing skills such as alternative communication, engaging in Makaton and other communication methods, and will be working alongside therapeutic partners such as physiotherapists, art therapists and more.

The Role:

To assist the students with their education via hand on hand assistance, or verbal encouragement
To engage the students in the lesson
Support the class teacher
To assist with personal care such as feeding and moving
Engage the students in outside activities and extracurricular activities
To work alongside the appropriate therapeutic partners
Record the students learning via their learning journals
To ensure the classroom is a safe and tidy environment
Understand and maintain your safeguarding roles and responsibilities.

The Ideal Applicant:

Have a background in care or education
Be confident in a classroom environment
Able to engage and remain confident and friendly around staff, students and pupils
Capable of working within a team
Understanding and empathetic to the needs of the students
