Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Fellowship posts within the Department of Anaesthesia at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

Initial tenure will be for 6 to 12 months (by mutual agreement).

The Department can offer fellowships in a number of areas including Medical Education, Simulation, Research, Quality Improvement, Intensive Care Medicine and Perioperative Medicine.

In addition, the post holder will participate in a 1:8 Anaesthetic EWTD compliant full shift on-call rota, covering Theatres, Obstetric anaesthesia or Critical Care depending on service need.

The department has received Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) from the Royal College of Anaesthetists. We have an excellent success rate for our Clinical Fellows gaining training numbers for their desired specialty.

Normal working days consists of either clinical duties from 08:00 to 17:30 (see below) or non-clinical educational/fellow duties from 08:30 to 17:00.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service.
  • Undertake clinical work, as dictated by weekly anaesthetic rota in clinical areas suitable to experience - based in Operating Theatres (main and day case surgery), the Maternity Unit and the Intensive Care Units.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the service by maintaining a flexible approach to work. The post holder may be required to change clinical duties at short notice to accommodate emergencies or unforeseen circumstances (e.g. theatre list cover for staff sickness).
  • The post holder will be part of the EWTD compliant trainee on-call rotas (general theatres, obstetrics and ICU, depending on their competence) on a 1:8 basis. The on-call rota has prospective cover included and therefore it is expected that doctors will cover each other, in respect of annual, study leave and bank holidays, without additional pay.

At the Dudley Group our patients and staff are at the heart of all that we do and that is to provide a world class service that aligns with our vision of "excellent health care, improved health for all".

We are seeking to recruit staff who share our vision and values of making Dudley Group an incredible workplace.

We are committed to home life balance through flexible working and making reasonable adjustments where possible.

Please refer to the attached job description for full details of the main duties and responsibilities that the post holder is required to undertake.
