Introduction:


  • We are currently seeking a Finance Business Partner to support the Economist Impact (Primarily Events) Team.
This role has become available due to an internal promotionThe role is based in London (close to Charing Cross) with a requirement of at least 2 days preferably 3 days in the officeThe focus of this role will help and support the Economist Impact Finance team (mainly Events but also Partnerships) to assist the business with current commercial reporting, forecasting and budgeting and at the same time help with process improvements to make the finance function more dynamic
Accountabilities:


  • Weekly In House Reporting including how to improve the current process to have data in one place for people to access
  • Improve the way we track projects across the business
  • Prepare weekly tracking of Events data and improve presentation of current tracking
  • Update and analyse Month End reporting
  • Lead forecast and budget process
  • Produce and present financial data
  • Business Partnering with heads of departments to identify risk and opportunities and be there go to for any financail support
  • Support the business with making investment decisions
  • Identify areas and implement improvements in the cost sheet reconciliation process.
  • Identify any potential semiautomation of revenue recognition in Events
  • Identify and improve inefficiencies in current processes
  • Help identify and resolve any mapping issues in Anaplan
  • Work on Sales to Revenue Earnings forecasting
  • Improve financial modelling capability across the Division
  • Respond to Group requests
  • Other Ad Hoc analysis when required

Experience, skills and professional attributes:


  • Strong school academics and degree educated and a Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent),
  • Able to demonstrate process improvements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & Google Sheets skills
  • Good Financial Modelling Skills
  • Knowledge of Anaplan, Salesforce
  • The ability to work effectively with people at different levels within the business
  • Good communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Experience of working in an FP&A or Commercial Finance role preferably for a Media Organisation
  • Good work ethic and team player with a no job too small mentality
  • A self starter
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines within a changing business culture
